Seismic Safety Staff
ED SYLVIS, President: Known throughout the state for his knowledge on seismic safety techniques, Ed is a third generation contractor specializing in foundation problem solution and repair. His 65 plus years of experience in earthquake retrofit is a major benefit to our ongoing reputation. He was a founding member of Southern California Association of retrofit professionals. Back in 1954 when Ed first received his Contractor's License, a then retired Caltech professor asked him to help retrofit his foundation. His passion was sparked, and so began a long line of foundation and earthquake retrofit work for the multitude of homes owned by Caltech professionals as well as many of Pasadena’s finest historic and preserved properties, including the campus offices for the U.S. Geological Society and the Southern California Earthquake Center @ Caltech, the premier Earthquake Research Center in California. Caltech trusts Ed and Seismic Safety’s expertise and so can you!
